Laser Printers

Laser printers contain numerous components, some of which are hazardous to the environment and health. Their proper treatment is a legal requirement within the European Union.

 

Our solutions include the re-use of empty toner cartridges, which includes their re-filling and re-use wherever possible. Non OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Cartridges have a high failure rate when remanufactured. In such circumstances, units are granulated and plastics re-used.

 

Fuser units, waste collection bottles and imaging units are seperated from their parent printing units. These are sent for re-manufature wherever possible. Non OEM units are again recycled.

 

Circuit boards, plastics and wires are seperated from the main carcass and resources recovered from them through mechanical processing. Similarly, carcasses are mechanically processed for ferrous and non-ferrous metals extraction.

 

Large Format Printers

Our service offers the logistics needed to collect and transport large format printers. Pink-Wales safely seperates out large printers into their constituent components, safely draining inks from the plotters, prior to dis-assembly and recycling.

 

Large Format Plotters contain numerous components including ferrous carcasses and plastic encasements. Cartridges and reservoirs contain inks that are formed from Oils and can be potentially damaging to the environment. Their proper treatment is a legal requirement within the European Union.

• A free service. If it's just ink cartridges you need to recycle, just box them up and send them via your nominated postal service to our treatment facility. When using this service, please remember to include your contact details so we can let you know what happened to the empty cartridges.
 
• Pink-Wales will collect ink cartridges FREE of charge when you book one of our WEEE collection services. Pink-Wales is able to take your used inkjet cartridges in conjunction with your redundant IT equipment. Cartridges are separated from your Computer equipment and then sent on for recycling by our specialists.

 

Pink-Wales recycles all computer equipment it receives in house. The service encompasses the following:

Flatbed Scanners

Flatbed scanners pose a potential threat to our environment. Their Backlights contain Mercury and these have to be treated in a specific way to ensure thorough cleansing of the glass. Our service incorporates a Dry cleaning process, removing the Mercury powder from the glass, which can then be re-used in the manufacture of new lighting elements. Scanners contain mechanical components fabricated from steel, glass and plastics. Most contain fluorescent tubes which, given their required function, contain Mercury in a powder form.
