St. Albans Computer Disposal

Waste computer equipment comprises both recoverable materials and hazardous components. End users are no longer allowed to dispose of such equipment through skip hire companies and the general waste stream. UK legal frameworks incorporating the WEEE directive and landfill legislation place strict guidance upon recycling routes and the use of authorised treatment services (ATF) for electronic waste. They further prohibit the use of exempt facilities, which lack the necessary qualifications and licenses to treat hazardous materials found in such wastes.

Backed by it's own waste management facility (ATF), employees experienced in Waste Management, IT and logistics and employing both manual and mechanical recovery techniques, Ping Wales operates a service that includes:

  • WAMITAB qualified (NVQ level 4) "Competent Person": running of a WEEE waste treatment facility
  • MCSE (Microsoft) Qualified.
  • WAMITAB (Waste Management Board) NVQ level 2 Employees
  • CRB check personnel for security at point of collection.

Data Destruction

Our service offers a highly secure Computer disposal route for St. Albans. The added benefit of a Waste Management License for WEEE is the ability to mechanically destroy data bearing media. This, on top of our bespoke facility and compliance with current UK guidance from the CPNI and British Standards, means that we offer extensive solutions that fully and irrecoverably destroy confidential data, even if the media is found to be faulty:

  • Binary wiping of Hard Disk Drives to various international standards (UK CESG, US DOD, Canadian Ops)
  • Physical destruction of magnetic media (DLT, DDS, Ultrium)
  • Granulating of optical (cd/ DVD) and solid state (USB sticks) media to 5mm
  • Physical destruction of Hard Drives, including manual disassembly and destruction of storage platters

We offer a complete certification process that incorporates the reporting of media destroyed and the methods used in the destruction.
